Poverty Conference in Rotterdam achieved NOTHING

Updated version of Rotterdam Declaration
Those who attended the World Alliance of Cities Against Poverty [WACAP] left the Conference Hall, last night, in discomfort.  They were poorer for the experience.

In total, the events were a complete disaster, partly because the organisers made themselves more important than the delegates, participants, and observers put together.

University students
University students from Delft and other institutions in the Netherlands were treated with disrespect. Yesterday afternoon one young man, who described himself as a “Space Science Student” [SSS] launched a scathing attack on the organisers and an equally robust attack on UNDP officials.

He accused them of “using big words which mean nothing”.  He did not see the purpose of the Conference which did not allow the people who were experiencing poverty to speak.

At that point, his microphone was cut off.

Sudanese Minister
Mrs. Amira Elfadi M.Elfadi, Minister, Sudan questioned the UN approach to issues that affect Humanity.  She said, “You are telling us what to do. There is no one to listen to what we have to say”.

Greek Delegation
A very strong delegation from Greece was totally ignored, with the result that many Mayors from Greece left the Conference prematurely.

UNDP Deputy Director, too smart for her own
But the accolade for bad behaviour, tantrums and disrespect must go to the Deputy Director, UNDP, Ms. Najat Rochdi.

Firstly, she disrespected women of all nationalities. She attended the 3-day Conference wearing a dress which one would normally find on the back of an Escort Agency girl.

On Tuesday evening, during a dinner at a Factory, Najat Rochdi, exposed herself to ridicule by dancing seductively and making a complete fool of herself.

Thirdly, during discussions she was rude and discourteous to participants who simply wanted to contribute to the issues on hand.

Finally, if she was good at her job, she would have made some efforts to assuage the fears of those participants whom she annoyed by her bad manners whilst “moderating”.  She did not.

In the events, the “Space Science Student” from Delft University, gave her a piece of his mind, by telling her what an “arrogant, ill-informed woman” she was.

On Monday, Mr. John-Salakov would review the role of the UN in upholding the Organisation’s own integrity.
